Let’s talk about the right time to schedule your senior portraits & how you can start prepping for them! With Spring right around the corner everyone is talking about getting their Senior Portraits done, actively looking for a photographer, and their Pinterest boards are full of inspiration photos! You might be doing the exact same thing, or if you’re the parent of a high school senior you might notice that they have a vision for this photo shoot that might (or might not!) align with yours. As a High School Senior Photographer in Lancaster Pa I have the experience to walk you both through this & deliver images that are going to make the rest of her friends swoon!
What you can do now…
Start planning your vision!
Whether that’s on Pinterest or the old school version of cutting & pasting from magazines- just get your idea going. Are you thinking floral, water front, your high school, the college that you’ve been accepted to, or your very own backyard? Can’t think of a specific location? That’s alright- it’s what I’m here for! I have a slew of venues & locations that you can access- just start with your inspiration & we’ll go from there!
Outfits & more outfits!
Senior sessions normally include 2-3 outfits and can even include your cap & gown (check out the pictures below to see some examples of other young ladies). These outfits need to be uniquely YOU! If you decide to throw an outfit in there that your mom has styled, well- you’d be a rock star! I’ve seen a combination of jeans and a sweater & a bright red dress, scrubs to celebrate nursing school & a floral dress, a half shirt and jeans & her cap and gown. No matter what you choose- make sure that you’re celebrating your very own unique style.
When to book…
I’m not overreacting when I say that you should book today. Photographers have their schedules fill up over the Spring, and if you’re looking for a last minute photographer who needs to deliver at least one photo by a certain date- you need to get on their calendar ASAP. Your school is going to ask for a very specific size photo with certain qualities, and it takes time to not only edit & create this for you, but to also follow the guidelines that the school has set to we’re not going back & forth with them causing you to miss the deadline.
Should you do your own hair & make up?
This is a time to splurge on yourself, taking away as much stress as possible for you! Going to a hair stylist for a blow out and having someone else pamper you by doing your make up might not be the worst idea in the world! If you’re more comfortable doing your own make up, of course you know what’s best for your comfort level. Just don’t immediately throw this idea out. Let someone spoil you- you only graduate high school once!
